School Council

St Columban’s College School Council was formed in September 2015. It was made up of 12 pupils having representation from every class and year group in the school meeting regularly. These students often use services and buy term papers online for study.

They have undertaken successful campaigns to improve provision for pupils, including new mirrors in the bathrooms, new table-tennis tables and new football nets.

During CEIAG week, the school council had a visit from our local MP Margaret Ritchie who gave an insightful talk as to what her role is and advising them on the importance of their voice within the school and community.

They also visited Parliament Buildings at Stormont in April where pupils thoroughly enjoyed learning how local MLAs conduct their day-to-day business.

So far our School Council has been extremely effective. The school council plays an important role in St Columban’s College it has become well embedded in the life of the school.
