A good command of the English language is essential in life. Whatever you end up doing, English is a must have subject for college, university, work and life. Furthermore, the study of the written and spoken word enriches our understanding and appreciation of the world we live in and our contribution to it.

From Architecture to Zoology, GCSE English will help you to:

  • work independently;
  • be creative;
  • think critically;
  • communicate your ideas with
  • confidence;
  • think logically.

All Key Stage 4 pupils are given the opportunity to do CCEA GCSE English Language at either Foundation or Higher Level. Optional courses include GCSE English Literature and Essential Skills Communication.

Over the years the English Department has established a tradition of extra-curricular activities to enhance our pupils’ learning experiences and to give them a greater appreciation of the world around them. Such activities include:

  • Residential Trips
  • Theatre Trips
  • Drama Club
  • Cross-community Events
  • Public Speaking Events
  • Inter school events
  • Reading Clubs
  • Charity Events
