Principal: Mr P Hannon
Dear Parent/Guardian Thank you for choosing St. Columbans for the next stage of your child’s education. I would like to give you a brief overview of the procedure for transfer and a flavour of what is available in our school. Towards the end of June you will receive a pack with information about the school and a personal invitation for an induction on 1st September 2015. This is an opportunity to meet staff and discuss any issues that need clarification and I look forward to meeting you. St. Columbans is a small school with a family friendly atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the curriculum delivered is the same as in all schools. We are an all ability school and endeavour to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to achieve and follow their preferred career pathway. Pupils are tested in June and September to attain a baseline. Classes are mixed ability. Pupils who have literacy and/or numeracy difficulties will have the opportunity of additional support within the school. If difficulties continue the SENCO will liaise with parents and seek outside support. To obtain outside support the school must produce a formal application and submit it to the Education Authority who have the final decision. Laptops and assisted technology is available on a case-by-case basis for pupils with special educational needs. I can assure you your son/daughter will mature and blossom in St. Columbans. If you have any concerns no matter how small please contact the school. Mr P J Hannon |
Lauren Clarke - Head Girl
"Trying to find the right words to say how much I have enjoyed my time at St Columban's is almost impossible! St Columban's has given me so many wonderful opportunities and has opened so many doors to my future, Icannot imagine a better place to have received my post-primary education. The school provides a happy and safe environment which welcomes all students and makes them feel like a valued part of the school community. Our school cares for all of its students and truly wants them to enjoy their school years. I can honestly say that St Columban's has done that for me” |
Rory Donnan - Head Boy
“Without St.Columban’s, I firmly believe that I would not be the strong, independent individual I am today. Our school is not just a school but also a community. Our school welcomes every person who walks through the front door with open arms. St. Columban’s has encouraged me and every other student to strive towards our own personal goals and aspirations. I am proud to be a pupil of St.Columban’s and I would highly recommend it to any person, no matter what their ability, because I can assure you, you will never find another school like it.”
